WRATHCHILD
HIT THE HEADLINES
For those who thought WRATHCHILD were finished by 1989, the boyz were still notorious and a great live act!
Here's the front page from THE DAILY STAR (for those who don't live in the UK, its a million copy a day newspaper)

here's the text :
A British heavy metal group was slammed by an MP last night for "outrageously corrupting the young."
Tory Andrew Bowden called for a total BAN on sick Wrathchild ... and other obscene bands.
His disgust was echoed by other politicians and church leaders.
The latest night of shame was at a club in Birmingham. The sick group pulled the tops off two young girl fans and squirted cream on their breasts.
Another of Wrathchild's depraved showpieces is for singer Shades to EAT knickers....
And here's a life review from December '89 showing the boyz still kicked ass on stage...

The girl in the leopard print dress was gorgeous. She stood glazed down at the front. Was probably still able to smell the innocence of her 16th birthday. Strange. When this lot first got up onstage virtually ten years ago, she'd never been wet between the legs. So what brought her here?
Who knows? Yet perhaps the answer is that Wrathchild, rather like Hawkwind, Motorhead and Gary Glitter have become something of a British institution. Transcending generations, whilst still remaining essentially a cult phenomenon. They'll probably still be up there, selling out shows at the end of the 20th Century (sadly not - ed.). Wrathchild's appeal is simple. They make you smile. There is a music hall naivety about vocalist Rocky Shades and his flashbomb raps that endears.
Wrathchild's failure to make it big is equally as simple. They aren't capable of contrivance. The musicianship of guitarist Lance 'Killer' Rocket, drummer Eddie 'Smokin' Starr, and bassist Marc 'Stanley' Angel, is severely limited, yet remains true and firm, never trying to hide behind banks of effects. And when it comes to songs, the Wraths have always stood by their own beliefs, never resorting to Desmond Child.
Mkaybe if the band had been a little more business-orientated then they'd have been more successful ... and probably far less fun to watch!
Tonight they delivered in typical fashion. Much of their early glam paraphanelia may have been discarded but their approach is still comic strip and comical. Songs like 'Na Na Nukklear Rocket' and 'Trash Queen' are still camped out anthems.
Wrathchild are probably responsible, in part, for inventing the 80's Glam approach that others have turned into a bankable commodity. Yet I still prefer to see them in action rather than some of their more successful American acolytes.
