Jelle Klaasen seemed to come from nowhere to win the BDO World title in 2006 beating Raymond van Barneveld. The rest of 2006 was disappointing for Klaasen aside from a hollow victory against Phil Taylor in the International Darts League (both players were out of the tournament when they met). Klaasen joined the PDC in early 2007.
